A reputable fine dining restaurant in Southwark is looking to recruit experienced Chef.

Candidate must be responsible for food preparation, especially taking responsibility in ensuring that the food cooked at the final stages and are prepared with the freshest ingredients, meeting high standards at all times. Monitoring portion and wastage control. Maintain a safe and hygienic kitchen environment and ensure that strict food hygiene standards and Health and Safety regulations apply at all times. Determination to exceed customer expectations at all times, ensuring quality checks and any other duties.

Chef Job Purpose:

Works alongside head chef to manage daily kitchen activities, including overseeing staff, aiding with menu preparation, ensuring food quality and freshness, and monitoring ordering and stocking. Provides meal quality and consistency by following designated recipes.

Chef Job Duties:

  • Leads kitchen team in chef’s absence
  • Provides guidance to junior kitchen staff members, including, but not limited, to line cooking, food preparation, and dish plating
  • Oversees and organizes kitchen stock and ingredients
  • Ensures a first-in, first-out food rotation system and verifies all food products are properly dated and organized for quality assurance
  • Keeps cooking stations stocked, especially before and during prime operation hours
  • Hires and trains new kitchen employees to restaurant and kitchen standards
  • Manages food and product ordering by keeping detailed records and minimises waste, plus works with existing systems to improve waste reduction and manage budgetary concerns
  • Supervises all food preparation and presentation to ensure quality and restaurant standards
  • Works with head chef to maintain kitchen organization, staff ability, and training opportunities
  • Verifies that food storage units all meet standards and are consistently well-managed
  • Assists head chef with menu creation
  • Coordinates with restaurant management team on supply ordering, budget, and kitchen efficiency and staffing

 

 

 

 

 

Chef Skills and Qualifications:

Previous Restaurant Experience of over five years, Extensive Food and Beverage Knowledge, Restaurant Industry Knowledge, Strong Organizational Skills, Attention to Detail, Knowledge of Restaurant Regulations, Leadership, Management, Positivity, Ability to Work Under Pressure, Self-Motivated, Creative Problem-Solving Skills. Qualification to a degree level in hotel management an advantage.

Successful candidate must be well organized, have good performance skills , knowledge of cutting vegetables meat, preparation and displaying of cuisines at perfection, Must be able to select, order and check necessary ingredients and spices for the respective dishes.

Duties will include managing the kitchen, to be able to work as part of a team, stock control, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene of the Kitchen.

Candidate must have over five years’ experience in a similar role.
